Can We Find a Place to Rest, Even on the Bad Days?

Study this Book of Instruction continually.  Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it.  Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. Joshua 1:8

First of all - I apologize for the sporadic posting.  I’ve been dealing with symptoms that are leaving me so tired - and I’ve not felt I’ve had encouraging things to share every day.

Today, as I was reading one of my Bible app devotionals (if you use a smart phone or a Kindle, I highly recommend YouVersion.  It can read Scripture to you, has a verse for the day, many, many different devotional topic series, and lets you highlight and take notes.)

You see, when I start feeling less than my best, it’s easy for me to get off track and find my mind in a million places other than where I want it to be.

I keep looking for ideas to help me stay focused on God.  I use the Soul Revolution 60/60 app - with hourly reminders that pop up.

I’ve reminders on my phone that say, “I am God.  You are not.  Am I enough?”

Yet, sometimes I shut off a reminder without thinking.

I found a good idea in the devotional series I am reading right now.  It’s a three-day series called “Beating Burnout: Finding Hope and Health.”

I’m on day two - and today I found a gem.

The text suggested finding three Scripture verses for either the day - or the week, and read and reread them throughout the day.  I think I’ll find my trusty 3x5 cards and write them out to keep them near me.

Even on the bad days, the no energy days, I feel like I am making progress, as I learn to immerse myself in Scripture.

I have to admit what I know you already know.  Life with chronic challenges is hard.  Daunting.  Tiring.

Yet, God provides a place for us to rest.

In His Word.

And I, for one, am grateful.

My three verses:

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.  Psalm 19:14

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee; because he trusteth in Thee.  Isaiah 26:3

Even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you.  I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save.  Isaiah 46:4
