Facing the Fires of Life

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. Isaiah 43:2

What an inspiration these words are for me! I am sure it is no coincidence that these  verses found their way to me today.

As I face the uncertainty that is today, I look at these promises with so much hope. With more tests in the offing, more medication changes, and more difficulties in getting through my day ... I need hope. I crave reassurances.

I know that today, many of you are also facing rivers that look as if they could sweep you away and heading into what looks like a consuming fire.

My prayer list grows as I get to know you.  Sometimes it seems overwhelming just to know some of what you all are going through.

Yet is seems that rather than feel that overwhelm, it is important to say to you (and to myself!): Hold fast to your faith that God is with you no matter what is in front of you.  I don’t know how it will happen, but it can and will bring you through it all knowing God is working in your life today, just as He was working in Paul’s life so very many years ago.

And if you feel you can no longer hold on to Him - know that He will never stop holding you.

Father God - Today I am compelled to prayer for each reader who is walking this challenging path we call life.  I pray that they would hold on to the knowledge that you will get them through each and every trial of life and bring them to the other side, rejoicing in You and all You have done - even when it looks like the fires and floods will overcome, You will ultimately prevail. Amen and amen.
