Feel Like You Are Only Crawling Toward Christ?

For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7

I bit the bullet this week and bought a large print Bible.  I was straining so hard trying to read my little Bible that it actually made reading so much of a chore.

What a difference it has made.  I don’t have to worry about seeing; I can focus on meaning.

I think it’s that way with God in my life.

Sometimes I try so hard to see Him, that I forget the meaning of my faith.

I start to walk by sight and I wind up feeling as if I am only crawling toward God.

And that is usually when I start craving those mountain-top experiences where God feels especially close and I feel particularly blessed.

I even try, on my own, to make them happen.

And, I usually stumble.

Funny, isn’t it?

I realize I am still in that faith-growing place.

And that’s ok.

I am not gonna beat myself up over that because, one day, and no doubt, a day not in this world,

I’ll be able to run to Him with open arms.

The crawling days are will be done.

Father God, help us to put aside the expectations of how our lives should be, and help us to live them fully as they are.  Help us to walk by faith, especially on the days when it is hard to see you or when you feel far away.  Help us to remember that every step toward you is a good one.  Amen and amen.
