In the Circle of Your Love

Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.  If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me," even the darkness will not be dark to you' the night will shine like the day, for the darkness is as light to you." Psalm 139: 7-12

A friend of mine called me today and told me she had a musical challenge for me.  She had read a devotional and gotten an image in her mind that she wondered if I could translate into a song. The idea?  Abiding in the circle of God's love.

I'll have to admit it grabbed hold of my musical self.

Wouldn't that be an interesting song?

"In the Circle of Your Love"

I often get titles of devotionals, songs, poems, even stories before the actual work is birthed.

What I love about the idea of the circle of God's love is that we can never be outside of it.

It's simply there.  It has no boundaries.  There is no place we can go to escape it.

We may not realize it, or act like.  We may not even acknowledge it.  I know some who fight against it.

But the reality?

It's always there for us to claim.

And once we are knowingly in that circle, once we realize the great love that surrounds us, we can find peace.

When we act as if, or believe we are outside of that circle, all the fears and worries of life crowd their way in - and take over our thoughts and even our belief system.

I know some of you may be saying, "But I sure don't feel like I am in the circle of God's love.  He feels so far away."

The interesting thing is that our feelings can lie to us.  They are based in our thoughts.  They are based in our assumptions.

We need to be based in God's truth.

God tells us that we live and move and exist in Him. (Acts 17:28)

We cannot get away from Him.

We are always in the circle of His love.

It's up to us to believe it.

And once you believe it,

The ripples it creates will go on forever.

In the circle of God's love.

Father God, Thank you for the truths that you reveal to us.  Help us to fully comprehend that you are never far away - that it is impossible for you to be far away. Teach us not to trust the feelings that can lie to us and obscure the truth that we are always and forever in the circle of your love.  Amen and amen.
