Just As I Am

Just as I am image.jpg

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. Romans 12:1

There it is again, Lord.

Romans 12:1 in Oswald Chambers devotional for today.

I am now positive this is the verse you have given me for now.

I guess I feel that I am not presenting You with a very worthy sacrifice.

This body.

This body that does so much less than it did before.

This body that sits and rests more than it does anything else.

This body that aches and creaks and hurts.

This body that is getting old and wrinkled.

This body with graying hair and tired eyes.

I don’t see what use you can make of this body, Lord.

You know how I’ve strove against the challenges.

You know how hard it has been for me to watch life go by me.

And yet, you say that this body is not only a living sacrifice, but that it is an acceptable sacrifice.

In Your eyes, this body still has worth and value.

I have to admit I don’t always see it.

But, I will take You at Your word.

If it is acceptable and valuable to You,

I will strive to accept and value it as well.

I’m beginning to wonder if this isn’t part of the lesson:

Truly accepting this body and giving it to you with all my heart - knowing it is worshipping You when I do so.

Knowing it is something that pleases you.

Knowing that this body, in which I dwell, is truly acceptable in Your eyes,

Just as I am.

I realize this is an old and familiar hymn.  Today, it took on new meaning for me and I’d love to share it with you.

The High Places book study starts on January 12!  It’s not too late to join us!

The site is up and seems to be running well.  If you are one of my test volunteers and have found any problems with the site PLEASE let me know!  I will be sending out usernames and passwords beginning Monday, January 6th.  You’ll have time to introduce yourself (no pressure if you’d rather lurk), and get familiar with the site setup, so come January 12, we can be off and running!

There is still time to join up with those of us who are traveling Much Afraid’s path.  (M.A. is the main character in the story.) Just drop me a note, or leave a comment on the website and let me know you are interested.  Need a book?  They are available on Amazon in paperback and Kindle versions.  (Kindle version is $1.99 right now and you can get a free app to read on your phone or computer!)  Need help with the financial part?  Just let me know.  God has taken care of that part, too!

A bit of housekeeping for the Hinds Feet book study.  There are a number of you who have not introduced yourself on the study site.  Please do so, so I will know how many of you are attending and have been successfully able to access the site.  If you don’t want to fully introduce yourself, just say, “Hello!”

If you did not receive the intro letter with your username and password, please contact me through this site.  Also, you might want to check your spam folder for the email.  Make sure that encouraging words at me.com is in your address book!
