Let God Fill in the Blanks

leave room for God.jpeg

A friend of mine said that to me the other day.

The reason?

I’ve made the decision that I can no longer homeschool my 13-year-old daughter and I need to put her back into traditional school.

For reasons I won’t go into now, I’m rebelling at the thought of our local middle school being “home” to her for the next two years.

So, I’ve put in an application for a small Christian Academy near out home.

The problem?

They have no bus service and as of now, we have no means of transportation.

Sounds foolish, doesn’t it?

I called my friend to let her and her husband know we’d turned in her application, and made a comment about the whole ‘not knowing how we’d get her there' issue.

His words?

He said with a smile in his voice, “Let God fill in the blanks.”

Yeah.

There are a lot of blanks in my life right now.

My eighteen-year-old son decided that moving out now that he is an adult is a good thing.

Another caretaker gone.

So, when I say lots of blanks … I mean LOTS of blanks that need to be filled in.

The funny thing is though I fretted about it some last night, I realized I needed to give it all to God.

Her transportation.

His safety and well-being.

My illnesses and the ramifications of recent test results that I’m choosing to put into God’s hands.  He knows the number of my days - not some statistical analysis.

So, tonight, I find myself oddly at peace.

I shouldn’t say oddly - because those of us who walk with Christ know just where that peace comes from.

It comes from the God of peace Himself - and is given to His children as they continue to look to Him.

Amazing grace …

isn’t it?

Amazing grace from an amazing God.

The one who will fill in all the blanks because He already knows exactly how they will be filled.

And for us?

We just need to leave room for Him to fill in the blanks without trying to fill it all in ourselves.

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is right, what ever is honorable, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence or anything worth of praise, dwell on these things.  The things you have learned or received or heard or seen in me, practice these things  … and the God of peace will be with you.  Philippians 4:8-9
