Revisiting: God Knows

Have you ever felt your life is a jig-saw puzzle?  I know I have.  Some days I feel like I am a puzzle with a big hole in the middle and no pieces to place in it.  Other days, I feel as if I have puzzle pieces … and no place to put them. This week has felt as if someone simply took the box of pieces and threw them on the floor.

Some days I just get plain tired of trying to make the pieces fit.  What if I end up with no picture at the end of all my hard work?  Putting puzzles together takes time, but there is that feeling of satisfaction when you press that last piece in place.

Sometimes I wonder, will I ever get to that place?  Will I ever feel “whole” again?

Then I hear God whisper to me,  “Do you remember my promise?”

I sit quietly and hear the words I’d memorized years before, never realizing the meaning they would one day have for me.

'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.  (Jeremiah 29:11, NASB)

I may not know where the next puzzle piece goes.

God knows.

I may not know where the next puzzle piece will come from.

God knows.

I may question whether or not I end up with a “picture” at the end of my life.

God knows.

I may wonder if I will feel be “whole” again.

God knows.

Knowing that He knows let’s me relax and stay in there here and now.  The pieces don’t have to all fit.  It’s ok for there to be some pieces missing.  It’s ok not to know what the picture will be.

Why is it ok?

Because God knows.

Father God, Thank you that we can rest in the knowledge that even though we may not like or understand the way the puzzle pieces are being put together in our lives, that You do know and that one day a glorious picture will result.  One which you crafted piece by piece.  Amen and Amen.  So be it, Lord.
