The Peace of God

Today’s Passage:

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. Philippians 4:6-8

There have been times in my life when I have had to focus on simply surviving.

I want more than that.

I feel God wants more than that for each one of us.

Even with our challenges and illnesses, I truly believes He wants us to thrive spiritually.

He wants us well-watered and firmly grounded. (Psalm 1)

I guess that is what I am seeking.

Deeper roots in Him.

Little by little, I see changes happening.  It often feels like one step forward and two steps back.

Sometimes those backwards steps are necessary to find our way.

This path sure isn’t a straight one. It often feels like a maze.

Yet, what I am finding is that my conversations with God are changing.  The idea of being honest with Him about how I feel, how conflicted I am, even with all of the doubts that surfaced yesterday, is strange.

But comforting.

I’ve heard it said the you know when you’ve become close friends with someone, you can talk about anything.  Anything at all.

Bit by bit, I’m doing that.

And rather than feel I am alienating God by my honesty, something new is surfacing.  I’m not quite sure what to call it.  But it’s there.  And it’s comforting. And it brings an amazing peace with it.

Every hour - a God-focused thought.  A time to see where my thoughts are.  (I don’t do this perfectly by any means.)

And on the half-hour?  “Am I enough?”

Remembering that He is God - and I am not.

Those three things are beginning to change my world.

They are doing so much for me.

It is as if they are warming my world.

So, my dear readers, what warms your world?  What are you doing to move forward today?  How is God bringing comfort to You?

I’d love to hear, whether in the comments or by email.

My prayer for you today?

And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
